Asim Naveed trained as a solicitor and enjoys living in the Elliman area of Slough. He now runs a local business, and believes it is important for elected councillors to listen to local people. In talking to many people in the Elliman area he has heard how they felt Slough's Labour-run Council not only terribly mismanaged the Council's finances, but also failed to consult properly. Since being elected to Slough Council in May 2023, Asim has been pleased to propose a successful motion at a meeting Slough Borough Council to encourage Slough Council to introduce a scheme to make developers pay a similar level of contribution to building infrastructure in Slough as they do in other local councils in Berkshire and surrounding counties. The details of this are in a story below.
Asim has also noted the local concern about the level of crime. He hopes to promote cooperation across all agencies and groups in the community to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour and secure more resources for local policing.
Asim serves of the following committees on Slough Council: Licensing; Planning; Standards; and Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education.
