“Please help the campaign to save Cippenham and Langley libraries,” requests Lib Dem Cllr Frank O'Kelly
On 17 Dec 2024, Slough Council announced it was consulting on plans to close Cippenham & Langley libraries and cut the number of staff in Slough library services.
Councillor Frank O’Kelly says: “Libraries are not just for borrowing books, they have evolved into lively community centres. They can be a key support to young, old & vulnerable residents. They can help mothers & the unemployed. If we lose a library, it is gone forever.”
Even the Council's own impact assessment of their own proposed changes describes how damaging the closure of Cippenham and Langley libraries could be, especially for some residents with disabilities, some elderly residents and for some some children and new parents who use various services provided at the libraries.
Please help the campaign to save the libraries and keep all the staff. The key thing is to oppose the plans in the Council’s official consultation.
