LABOUR AND TORIES "BANKRUPT" THE COUNCIL & COUNTRY – IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE

"Slough Lib Dems say residents deserve a better choice than the Labour councillors whose incompetence has bankrupt Slough Council, and Tories whose policies make things even worse for residents." This is the message from Slough Lib Dem chair, Matthew Taylor (see photo).

Matthew explained, "Slough Lib Dems are developing plans to tackle the extreme mess Labour and Tory councillors have made of Slough Council's finances. Neither Labour or the Tories are fit to run Slough Council. A new approach must be found."

Matthew continued: "The independent reports on Slough Council's debts and overspending show they are worse than almost any other UK council has ever incurred.

"The figures are mindboggling. Slough Labour councillors will carry on cutting services for years to help pay for their £479 million failure, and will sell off £600 million of the Council's assets."

"But, it gets worse", Mr Taylor said. "Regrettably, Slough Tories have shown themselves to be just as financially irresponsible as the Tory Government. The Tories on Slough Council failed to do their job and properly scrutinse the reckless overspending of Slough Council.

"The Tories proposed budget for Slough in March 2021 was even more irresponsible than that of the Labour Council bosses."

Finally, Matthew said: "Slough Lib Dems are working on a plan to be unveiled at our AGM on 26th October to promote an entirely new and different approach to tackling the crisis facing Slough Council. This plan will put the residents of Slough first. And provide greater accountability, and scrutiny of the Council bosses."
