Happy New Year & local Lib Dem action

5 Jan 2019

Slough Lib Dems wish you a very Happy New Year, and report back on key action in Cippenham and Slough during 2018.

Throughout 2018 Slough Lib Dems were busy campaigning on local issues in Cippenham and Slough, and active as part of the national campaign for a People's Vote on the Brexit Deal, with an option to remain in the EU.

Key campaigns included:

  • Litter picks to clean up Cipppenham Meadows: see photo of the one led by Lib Dem Focus team members Matthew Taylor and Robert Plimmer.
  • Highlighting the dangers Brexit poses, including to our NHS through staff shortages as highly valued nurses, doctor and social care staff from EU countries who have been working in the UK leave as they no longer feel welcome here.
  • Pressing Slough Borough Council to demand action from utility companies, especially Virgin, to repair or replace utility boxes that are damaged and have potentially dangerously exposed wires etc.
  • Working with others for action on a range of issues including on street lighting, parking and repairs to damaged gates, railings and display boards.
