Gavin Williamson should resign now, says Layla Moran

Lib Dem education spokeswoman Layla Moran MP (pictured left) said "Gavin Williamson is an Education Secretary out of his depth and out of excuses."

Layla received wide coverage in the national and local media, including the Slough Observer, for her call for Mr Williamson to step down from his role as Education Secretary with immediate effect.

The exams fiasco is the latest, and the most serious, in a series of mistakes made by the Tory Education Secretary during the pandemic, and highlighted by Layla. His other blunders include ones on free school meals and IT provision during lockdown.

Layla demanded that Williamson "take responsibility for his mistakes and step down with immediate effect."

"Our young people and our country cannot afford these blunders to continue into September, ahead of a potential second wave."
