Tom McCann, Liberal Democrat candidate for Slough, set out key policies for a better future for Britain at an enthusiastic campaign launch on Monday 15 May.

  • Unlike other parties the Lib Dems have properly costed plans to reverse the Tory cuts to the NHS, social care and education.
  • Lib Dems would put a penny on income tax to reverse Tory cuts to the NHS and improve underfunded services such as mental health.
  • The Lib Dems would give Slough schools an extra £39 million to reverse Tory cuts and fully fund the extra places needed.
  • The Lib Dems would let the people have a vote to accept the final Brexit deal or remain in the EU.

Tom McCann also set out how as MP for Slough he would fight to make Slough's Labour Council listen more to local people on issues such as unwanted traffic schemes and running services more effectively.

Tom McCann is now taking his campaign to the streets of Slough. Since the publication of the Tory manifesto Tom has attacked the Conservatives' plans to clobber the elderly and families. Tom said:

"Every vote for me is a vote:

  • against Theresa May's plans to introduce a 'Death Tax' for the elderly receiving care in their own homes,
  • against Theresa May's plans to remove the Triple Lock which ensures reasonable increases in the state pension, and
  • against Theresa May's plans to remove free school lunches from almost two million infants."
