Chelsea Whyte: “Thank-you, and big wins for local Lib Dems”
Chelsea Whyte, Lib Dem candidate for Slough in the July 2024 election says:
"Thank you to everyone across Slough who voted for me to be the town’s Lib Dem MP. I wasn’t successful this time, but I enjoyed meeting residents across Slough.
"Many people in Slough said they liked the Lib Dem policies such as saving the NHS and social care, tackling the cost of living crisis, tackling the housing crisis and getting more resources for the vital services provided by Slough’s Council.
"Since the election, the Lib Dems are continuing to campaign on these issues, and call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and a free and independent Palestine. The Lib Dems were the only party united in Slough and nationally in calling for the Gaza ceasefire since October 2023."
With such policies the Lib Dems went up from 11 MPs in 2019, to 72 after the July 2024 elections. The Lib Dem gains include three wins in Berkshire: Maidenhead, Newbury, and Wokingham.
Sarah Green (see picture) was first elected as Lib Dem MP for Chesham & Amersham in a by-election in 2021, and re-elected in 2024. After boundary changes Lib Dem Sarah Green’s constituency is even closer to Slough as it now includes part of South Bucks.
