72 Lib Dem MPs elected in 2024

2024 was an excellent year for the Lib Dems across the country, and locally.

In May nationally many new councillors were elected. In July 72 Lib Dem MPs were elected across the UK (see photo), including 3 in Berkshire: Josh Reynolds in Maidenhead, Lee Dillon in Newbury and Clive Jones in Wokingham. The boundaries of the Chesham and Amersham constituency that Sarah Green gained for the Lib Dems in 2021, and won again in 2024, were changed in 2024 and so it is now nearer to Slough as it now includes some of South Bucks. In total, 61 more Lib Dem MPs were elected than in the previous General Election in 2019.

Slough Lib Dem Cllrs successfully proposed several motions on Slough Council that were relevant for Slough residents. These motions included one to get developers to contribute more money for services such as roads and health facilities when planning permission is granted for a new, or expanded, development. Another opposed Labour's cuts to Winter Fuel Payments.
