Thanks for the Votes & Now for Slough's Future

May 19, 2022 2:03 PM

Jo Hanney, Lib Dem candidate, Upton WardJo Hanney (left) writes: Along with my colleagues Amjad Abbasi, Matthew Taylor and Catharine Parkes, I would like to thank all the residents who voted for us on Thurs 5 May in the Slough Council elections.

We were pleased with our Lib Dem vote in Elliman, Cippenham Meadows, Haymill and Lynch Hill, and Upton.

Surging to second in 2022; Forward to first in 2023

In particular, in Elliman and Cippenham Meadows we jumped into second place which provides a strong platform for challenging Labour at the election in May 2023, when all Slough's council seats will be up for election.

This will be very important because Slough's current councillors have only just started their programme of Β£20m savings/cuts every year until 2029 to clear up the mess they have made of the Council's finances.

Despite the difficulties created by the financial crisis, Slough Lib Dems produced a manifesto for this year's elections, unlike Slough Tories.

We invite residents to help us develop this further by giving us feedback on our manifesto which can be accessed, along with our contact details, on the Slough Lib Dem website: https://sloughlibdems.org.uk/en/document/slough-liberal-democrats-2022-local-elections-it-s-time-for-a-change-councillors-should-consult-count-cooperate-effectively.pdf
