“Stop Brexit” says Aaron Chahal, new Lib Dem candidate for Slough

September 16, 2019 6:55 PM

Aaron Chahal Lib Dem Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Slough at Upton Hospital"I'm campaigning to Stop Brexit and defend the NHS, jobs & the economy", proclaimed Aaron Chahal as he announced that he was delighted to have been selected as the Lib Dem Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Slough.

Aaron currently works for British Airway Pensions as a Finance Assistant whilst studying to become a certified chartered accountant. He said: "I live nearby and will immediately move to Slough if I'm elected as the town's next MP."

Aaron set out some of the major ways Brexit is such a danger to the NHS and social care. These include the loss of valued staff, and the threats from any post-Brexit trade deal between Donald Trump and his friend Boris Johnson.

Standing outside Upton Hospital in Slough, Aaron listed five good reasons why people should vote for him to be Slough's next MP:

  • "The Lib Dems are the strongest UK party committed to both stopping Brexit, and campaigning to protect our NHS, jobs & the economy. The NHS in Slough needs defending against the twin dangers of Brexit and a repeat of the decision by Slough's Labour-run Council to privatise some local services previously run by NHS staff based at Upton Hospital.
  • I am a passionate campaigner for action to combat climate change. This is best done inside the EU and at national and local levels. I will promote Slough Lib Dem's action plan to tackle the Climate Emergency.
  • The Lib Dems are on the up in Slough. We beat the Tories across Slough in June's European elections, and in Cippenham Meadows in May's local elections.
  • At Exeter University in 2016 I led the Remain campaign in the EU referendum.
  • I would be best placed to promote policies to tackle Slough's housing crisis that is made worse by the policies of the Tory Government and the failures of the Labour Council."
