Vince Cable rallies support for the People’s Vote march on Saturday, and jokes it took York 700 years to recover from Rexit (Romans’ Exit)

March 19, 2019 11:58 AM

At the Lib Dem's spring conference in York, Dr Vince Cable joked grumbles about regulations from Rome on straight roads etc contributed to Rexit, from which it took York 700 years to recover. York, his home city, did try the Norway option, but that didn't work out very well with the Viking invasion! Slough Lib Dems with the People's Vote Brexitometer

Dr Cable highlighted Saturday's People's Vote march, and described how the Lib Dems had been campaigning for the people to be given a vote on the final deal, and an Exit from Brexit, for over two years. Brexit would be very damaging to the economy, scientific collaborations, and peace. Also, the quickest way to end the Brexit debate would be if the people voted Remain in a People's Vote. This is because if Theresa May's deal is accepted by Parliament there would then have to be years of negotiating with the EU about vital future trade deals.

Slough Lib Dems' campaign has included contributing to the People's Vote campaign asking shoppers in the High Street, Farnham and Langley how they think Brexit is going, and whether there should be a People's Vote, with an option to Remain in the EU.

There is very strong support for a People's Vote with an option to Remain, as in the photo of Matthew Taylor and Jo Hanney at the Harrow Market, Langley.
